Lead Climbing Rules & Safety
The Nest Lead Climbing Rules & Safety
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, please adhere to the following rules:
Approved Devices Only: Only approved belay devices (e.g. Grigi) are permitted for lead climbing. Ask staff if you are unsure about your device.
Manufacturers Guidelines: All climbing equipment must be used strictly in accordance with manufacturers guidelines & instructions, this includes decommissioning dates.
Right to Refuse: The Nest staff reserve the right to refuse the use of any personal equipment if it appears unsafe, damaged or unsuited for its intended purpose
Your Responsibility: Climbers are personally responsible for thoroughly checking their own equipment, including harnesses, ropes, and belay devices, for any signs of wear, tear or damage before and during use.
First Draw Safety: Strongly recommended to clip the first draw from the ground. If unsure, clip the second draw as well. Stick clips are available for your use.
Ground Anchors: When there is a significant weight difference between climber and belayer (especially for lighter belayers), tying into our designated ground anchors is highly recommended.
Clip All Draws (Mandatory): It is mandatory to clip every single draw on the route. Skipping draws is prohibited.
